welcome No one ever followed his genius til it misled him. Though the result were bodily weakness, yet perhaps no one can say that the consequences were to be regretted, for these were a life in conformity to higher principles. If the day and night are such that you greet them with joy, and life emits a fragrance like flowers and sweet-scented herbs, is more elastic, more starry, more immortal,--that is your success. All nature is your congratulation, and you have cause momentarily to bless yourself. The greatest gains and values are farthest from being appreciated. We easily come to doubt if they exist. We soon forget them. They are the highest reality....the true harvest of my daily life is somewhat as intangible and indescribable as the tints of morning or evening. It is a little star-dust caught, a segment of the rainbow which I have clutched. --Henry David Thoreau |

Let me give you a piece of advice, NEVER EVER FLY CHINA EASTERN AIRLINES! They truly suck! The flight we took from Singapore to China was delayed two hours, and the flight we took from China to Singapore was delayed three hours because the plane was apparently 'overweight' so they took an additional three hours just to sort it out. We ended up waiting five hours since we came early. The thing was, they told us the plane would be delayed for half an hour, and it seems they forgot to tell us that something else propped up. Urgh. Plus the airport had virtually no facilities and no water so I was dying of thirst. But while we were there waiting for the damned flight, it turns out there were people in a worst situation then we were. Apparently their flight had been delayed two days as the flight had been cancelled due to bad weather. You figured they would have checked a few days in advance with all their fancy technology. Then they ended up waiting for another five hours, in which some of them actually started fighting with the airport people. Then, when the plane finally started boarding, the last few people to get in were told to not go in. Why? It seems they oversold the tickets and they waited for the last few seconds to find out. What were these people to do? Well, they were given 600 yuan. which translates to $120 and told to come back tomorrow. Since they were part of a tour group, half of which was already on the plane, it was absolutely preposterous and they started fighting again. So both our flights were delayed and we weren't the only ones. Now you know... Anyway, China wasn't that bad, only it was very dry. The scenery was good and we bought a lot of things. I have a new speaker system for my iPod and we bought lots and lots of shoes. Too bad the Converse ones were too expensive. We bought a lot of souvenirs and quite a lot of fruits. However, the tour group wasn't very good. The bus was terrible and it had no suspension what so ever. China's roads are very bumpy, and every time the bus hits a bump, the whole bus vibrates and it bounces like crazy. The bus was quite small too, only about 5 rows of seats. And when it's on the highway, where the road is better, the chairs vibrate so much that you get a massage too, though after a while it hurts quite a bit. The hotels were quite good, you know 3 stars, 4 stars and one 5 star resort that unfortunately had no heating whatsoever. The food was tolerable, though I really didn't like it being the picky person I am. However, the last lunch we had was nasty. Steamboat mushrooms dipped in chili for flavor. And the soup smelled really strong. Oh, we bought a shit load of DVDs. I have the entire 10 seasons of Friends to watch till I die, not to mention all the other movies. Okay, off to wake my sister up so we can watch some more! BYE! // Wednesday, November 28, 2007, 10:54 AM I'm blogging at the airport now. The damn flight is delayed for two hours! So, its 2 am now and the flight is at 4 am, which totally sucks for me. I hope I don't fall asleep and miss the flight. Plus, we forgot to bring the camera. G-R-E-A-T. Urgh, and my father won't bother bringing it to us. He didn't even want to bring the bloody heavy suitcase down from the second level. Man of the house? Yeah right. I'm more manly than he'll ever be. Anyway, hope it'll be fun. It's really cold out here and if I wasn't wearing a long sleeve t-shirt under my red one, I'd be freezing my ass off. Fortunately, Cyn didn't wear a long sleeve shirt so she's freezing her ass off. Hey, at least I get some fun! I'm really not looking forward to the flight. I hate airplanes, and supposedly, this airline's food especially sucks. At least I won the scissors paper stone tournament so I get the window seat! Goodbye for now! // Tuesday, November 20, 2007, 1:58 AM Only one book review to go! Whoo! I'm so proud of myself! Prodigal Daughter is so boring, I'll wouldn't even have bothered reading it if it wasn't for the damn English homework. But never mind! It's my last one! Oh, and I'm leaving on Monday, so I won't be posting for a week. Also, do not SMS me. That means you guys, Rachael and Cleo, stop bugging me about going to Church! You're never gonna convert me anyway. I'm too Science-y for that to happen. And seriously, why me? I'm not the only free-thinker in class. Urgh, just my luck. And Rachael, you better tell me what happens in Survivor next week! I can't believe all the shows I will be missing... Grey's Anatomy Prison Break Two and a Half Men The Office Brainiac Desperate Housewives (I'm not a big fan of this one) CSI: Las Vegas Is It Real: Stigmata (I REALLY WANT TO WATCH THIS ONE!!! NOT FAIR! ITS MY FAVORITE DOCUMENTARY AND THIS EPISODE IS FRIGGIN' COOL! Arts Central, Thursday at 10pm, BTW, if your interested) Survivor Gilmore Girls The Simpsons The Amazing Race Look at that long list! How am I going to catch up? ARGH! Yes, I know I'm a TV Freak. Grrrrrrr.... // Saturday, November 17, 2007, 7:54 PM Me and my sis went to Lot 1 today to go get my watch, which by the way, I absolutely LOVE. It's very classy and visually appealing. Actually, the only reason why my sis came is because she wanted to eat outside. Glutton. Anyway, I saw BeatRICE today. She didn't get all hyper because she was with her friend. I waved at her though. Then we went to Jurong to pick up my reserved books. I had to wait almost forever for my turn, then I took my books (Dean Koontz's Dark Rivers Of The Heart and By The Light Of The Moon), and during the long wait, I saw a Nicholas Sparks book on the librarian's table. Apparently, he wrote a new book! It's called The Choice, and I so want to read it so I went to reserve it but I'm 7th in the waiting list so I'm gonna have to wait a friggin long time for it. ARGH I CAN WAIT THAT LONG! I HAVE TO READ IT! Then I went upstairs an bumped into Aricia, who was having great difficulty finding her books. That's why you have to reserve them! I looked around but didn't find anything interesting. I wanted to get Stephen King's Different Seasons, but it wasn't there so I went to look for my sister in the Shakespeare section. She is such a free loader by the way. She didn't want to do her essay on Twelfth Night so she tried to find a book about Shakespeare and then just copy off it. Unbelievable. I'm gonna be leaving soon, and I'm hoping its not too cold out in China since I only have two sweaters (one is really nice turtle neck) and one thick jacket to last me through seven days. Hopefully, my prejudice against tours does not turn out to be true. // Wednesday, November 14, 2007, 8:41 PM Well, I finally got my Converse sneakers! It's non-canvas, brown in colour and has a white star. The thing is, I have to pay $20 for it, which is a good deal since it costs $60. I actually wanted another one, but it was too expensive so my mother didn't want to buy it. Too bad! Then we went to buy some winter clothes since the only ones I have I wore when I was 5 years old. It's gonna be quite cold in Kunming, like 10 degrees, which is not too extreme, but my Converse jacket will be really useless. There is this watch I want. It's silver and golden, and the cool thing about it is that you can see the gears working. However, you're supposed to wind it up, but if you think about it, that means it will never run out of battery. I have no idea how to wind it up since it looks just like an ordinary watch. I don't think I will get it since, well, my mother never keeps her promises. I can still hope though, but since my sis has a watch, she'll have to get me one too because I'll keep bugging her about how unfair it is. It works sometimes, but not all the time. Alright, I've finally finished one of my four book reviews, and now I'm basically waiting for all the other books to be returned since they are ALL on loan. I reserved all the other books, but it'll take a while until I get them. Well, I have all the time in the world...right? // Sunday, November 11, 2007, 9:00 PM Argh, why is Grey's Anatomy taking so long to load? Damn it, I can't wait that long... I have to watch the next episode! Anyone has the 7th episode? And if you do, please don't spoil it for me! // Friday, November 9, 2007, 7:07 PM Today was kinda fun. Cleo, Rachael and I went to Jurong Swimming Complex and enjoyed the waters. I left at about 9am, waited for them for a while, then we took a bus there. Usually I take an MRT to Chinese Garden, but, well, at least I tried something new today. I haven't been to Jurong Swimming Complex in quite a while, like a few years, and going there gave me a small feeling of nostalgia. We used to buy budgerigars (is that how you spell that?) there, though they all either died or flew away. Anyway, the swimming complex there is quite fun. They have a wave pool, a 'lazy river', three humongous slides, a kiddy water playground, a jacuzzi, and finally, you standard pool. Cleo swam a few laps first, then we went on the lazy river. We rented two tubes to go on the slides; Rachael was too scared as they were 'too high'. After that, we went to the wave pool, where Rachael 'almost drowned' since she's so short, like 1.4m or something. There was this spray thing, and the water was icy cold, but it was so fun. Rachael hated it though because it was too cold for her and it made her teeth chatter. Cleo and Rachael were in the tubes, and I was 'chauffeuring' them around because they were so incompetent that they couldn't move at all, especially Rachael with her short arms. Oh and by the way, just to clarify, I CAN swim... contrary to popular belief it seems. And i swim a whole lot better that Rachael too. Then we played a little more and went to eat at KFC/Pizza Hut (same restaurant). Cleo ate mini Pizza, and Rachael kept trying to steal the cheese. Rachael and I ate an O.R. fillet burger meal though I ordered cheese fries to go with it. Rachael stole my cheese fries too, so I took her Pepsi. Then we went to Jurong Library and attempted to find the damn books we were supposed to do a book review about, but failed miserably. I tried to look for Sparks or Stephen Kings' Different Season. Its a collection of short stories, and there's this particular one that I really want to read. Its called 'Rita Hayworth and Shawshank Redemption' Really good read. After that we went to Jurong Centre, where Cleo and Rachael TRIED to get me to take neoprints, but it turned out they didn't have enough money. Woohoo for me. Thank goodness. We looked at some second-hand books but they were too old and boring. Then we each took our separate ways and headed home. All in all, it was quite an eventful day. //, 5:30 PM I love this song! 'Leaving on a Jet Plane' by Chantal Kreviazuk (I know it's a weird name but the song's still good). All my bags are packed, I'm ready to go I'm standin' here outside your door I hate to wake you up to say goodbye But the dawn is breakin', it's early morn The taxi's waitin', he's blowin' his horn Already I'm so lonesome I could die So kiss me and smile for me Tell me that you'll wait for me Hold me like you'll never let me go 'Cause I'm leaving on a jet plane I don't know when I'll be back again Oh, babe, I hate to go I'm ... There's so many times I've let you down So many times I've played around I'll tell you now, they don't mean a thing Every place I go, I think of you Every song I sing, I sing for you When I come back I'll wear your wedding ring So kiss me and smile for me Tell me that you'll wait for me Hold me like you'll never let me go 'Cause I'm leaving on a jet plane I don't know when I'll be back again Oh, babe, I hate to go Now the time has come to leave you One more time, oh, let me kiss you And close your eyes and I'll be on my way Dream about the days to come When I won't have to leave alone About the times that I won't have to say ... Oh, kiss me and smile for me Tell me that you'll wait for me Hold me like you'll never let me go 'Cause I'm leaving on a jet plane I don't know when I'll be back again Oh, babe, I hate to go And I'm leaving on a jet plane I don't know when I'll be back again Oh, babe, I hate to go But I'm leaving on a jet plane (Ah ah ah ah) Leaving on a jet plane (Ah ah ah ah) Leaving on a jet plane (Ah ah ah ah) Leaving on a jet plane (Ah ah ah ah) Leaving on a jet plane (Ah ah ah ah) Leaving on a jet plane (Ah ah ah ah) Leaving on a jet plane (Ah ah ah ah) Leaving on a jet plane (Ah ah ah ah) (Leaving) On a jet plane // Tuesday, November 6, 2007, 2:54 PM ARGH! Sarah Tancredi is DEAD! Why in the hell did the goddamn producers have to do that? What is their problem? They put Scofield in the a disgusting shithole, and then kill off his girlfriend by sending Tancredi's head in a box to Burrows? Damn it! But I think there's something weird going on. I hope I'm right. Or perhaps it's because they fired Sarah Wayne Callies so they had to cover it up. And if that's the case I am so pissed! Uh... I gotta watch the next couple of episodes? Does anyone have the 6th episode? // Monday, November 5, 2007, 11:05 PM Alright, it's confirmed! I'm going to Kunming on the 20th of November. I'm coming back on the 26th, so I won't be posting then. I'm not gonna visit my relatives.. It's a long story... Anyway, I'm watching the first 5 episodes of Prison Break. Seriously, why is it that Michael always has everything going wrong for him? I wonder what happened to Tancredi, but I bet they'll hook up again sooner or later. PRISON BREAK ROCKS!! Although I still prefer Grey's Anatomy because it's less intense and more funny. Plus, I love Ellen Pompeo's laugh. She's is terribly small though, but she has nice hair. I've almost finished my homework, thank goodness. All I have left are the damn book reviews. Does anybody have any Jeffrey Archer books? Why must they give us such stupid authors (besides Dean Koontz I mean)? All the books are damn old, seriously. I love Koontz, but the books you want us to read, they're so old that not many libraries have them! Argh, I hate this. //, 5:45 PM You know what? I absolutely LOVE Armageddon! It's a movie about this asteroid that's gonna crash into Earth. It's about the size of Texas, which means that no matter where it hits, it's gonna wipe out the entire population, and it'll be so bad, not even bacteria will survive. So this asteroid's gonna hit the Earth in about 18 days, so naturally, NASA is like freaked out. But, I was wondering, why NASA? I mean, it's success rate is next to nothing and it almost just an expensive piece of crap. I know, sure, it landed the first humans on Earth, but after that, it really has not done anything else, besides sucking up money that is. Anyway, NASA decides to send people up there and drill into the asteroid about 800 feet and then drop a bomb in it. That way, the asteroid will split into two chunks and hopefully cruise right past the Earth. This has to be before a certain distance from the Earth or else the two chunks won't fly right pass the Earth and will hit it right smack in the face. They decided to send a crew of professional oil riggers (Bruce Willis, Ben Affleck, Owen Wilson, that weird guy from Mr Deeds named Crazy Eyes who, what do ya know it, actually plays a crazy genius guy, the coach from Remembering the Titans, this really big black dude and this really big white dude) and train them for two weeks to be astronauts. That cop and that russian guy from Prison Break acts in it too, and Liv Tyler, who plays Affleck's girlfriend and Willis's daughter. It's like the most thrilling movie I've ever watched... It's just damn intense, but you get this pleasure from seeing a bunch of grown men screaming and panicking, and there's humour in it too, which is basically the entire package. There are a shit load of plt twists and every possible thing goes wrong, but it's a happy ending, well sort of since more than half of them died. Alright, enough said, I'm gonna do my homework now. I still have to do a composition, which I already know what I'm gonna write about, and four book reviews, which is easy once I find the goddamn books. I already have one of them, so just three left! // Friday, November 2, 2007, 8:43 PM Cyn and I went to Plaza Sing today to watch Lars and The Real Girl. The movie was G-R-E-A-T! I love Ryan Gosling, he's a superb actor, and he's also a method actor, which is kinda cool. I liked him better in The Notebook though, mostly because Nicholas Sparks wrote the book and because Rachel Mcadams acted in it too. Anyway, it's about this guy, who's kinda a loner, and feels pain when someone touches him... no idea why though. Ryan Gosling plays this guy. Anyway, he orders this mannequin (okay it's not really a mannequin, it's something that sounds a whole lot worse so I won't tell you), who's name is Bianca by the way. Bianca is wheelchair-bound and doesn't talk much, go figure. He falls in love with Bianca so his family starts thinking his crazy. They send him to see the doctor by convincing him that Bianca's sick, and there the doctor tells him that Bianca has low blood pressure (more like no blood pressure) and that she need to come back every week. What Ryan Gosling doesn't know is that the doctor is actually treating him. In the end, Ryan Gosling gets all delusional and thinks that Bianca is dying, and she 'dies' soon after. She even had a funeral... how 'bout that? Then he kinda hooks up with a real girl (she sings in the church he goes to), good for him! And there you go, another happy ending (or in Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith... Another happy landing)! Here's a neat country twang song, and the lyrics are really funny. I got a little change in my pocket Goin ching-a-ling-a-ling Wanna call you on the telephone, baby Give you a ring But each time we talk I get the same old thing Always, "No huggee, no kissee Until I get a wedding ring." Oh, my honey, my baby Don't put my love upon no shelf She said, "Don't hand me no lines And keep your hands to yourself. "B-b-baby, baby, baby Why you treat me this way? You know I'm still your loverboy I still feel the same way Thats when she told me a story About free milk and a cow She said, "No huggee, no kissee Until I get a wedding vow." Oh, my honey, my baby Don't put my love upon no shelf She said, "Don't hand me no lines And keep your hands to yourself." See I wanted her real bad And I was about to give in Thats when she started talking about true love Started talking about sin I said, "Honey, I'll live with you for the rest of my life. "She said, "No huggee, no kissee Until you make me a wife. "Oh, my honey, my baby Don't put my love upon no shelf She said, "Don't hand me no lines And keep your hands to yourself." // Thursday, November 1, 2007, 6:04 PM |
