welcome No one ever followed his genius til it misled him. Though the result were bodily weakness, yet perhaps no one can say that the consequences were to be regretted, for these were a life in conformity to higher principles. If the day and night are such that you greet them with joy, and life emits a fragrance like flowers and sweet-scented herbs, is more elastic, more starry, more immortal,--that is your success. All nature is your congratulation, and you have cause momentarily to bless yourself. The greatest gains and values are farthest from being appreciated. We easily come to doubt if they exist. We soon forget them. They are the highest reality....the true harvest of my daily life is somewhat as intangible and indescribable as the tints of morning or evening. It is a little star-dust caught, a segment of the rainbow which I have clutched. --Henry David Thoreau |
profile There are two words to describe me: 'atheistic' and 'cynical'. Anything else, you'll have to find out by yourself. Don't like it, sue me. And that's the awful truth. |

Results! Okay I know its a bit late but I was bored the last couple of days. I got 5th in class, which means I don't have to pay half the price of my bike back to my mom, which is a good thing since I don't want to give her that much of my savings. It's really disappointing as even though I improved my math from a just pass to and A1 in the second semester, there is no way I can get an A1 overall as my marks from the first semester really freaking pulls me down, changing an A1 to a B3. Anyways, I'm pretty much satisfied with my marks, although I really could have beaten Emma if not for my bloody math. I tied with Sarah S. for fifth though. Anyways, I am definitely going to China, but I'm not sure where or when. I wanna see some scenery for a couple of days before visiting my relatives... but where to go. In addition, my sis has got plans in late November and early December, so we really have to get going very soon. Hopefullt there'll be some nice moutain ranges to look at, maybe we could row across and slow river like we did last time we were in Thailand. Riding an elephant is out of the question though, but I must add its really fun. Okay, gotta go! // Saturday, October 27, 2007, 9:26 AM I've got a bit of sad news to share: my fraternal grandfather died, though I'm not exactly sure when, but really recently. I never really knew the man, and I talked to my grandma more. He's really old, and reminds me of Sauron from Lord of the Rings...no seriously. My father's going back to China to settle the funeral and stuff like that. My grandparents are really poor, this I know as their house is the size of my Living room and the mattresses are just a few layers of blankets. They used to rear rabbits, but I don't know what happened to them now. The rabbits were really stinky, but the little ones were cute. They live in this shabby neighbourhood that's extremely dirty. My mom says that my grandmother doted on me, which amazingly, I never knew. You figure she'll would have told me these things sooner, like how Cyn stole my blood. I think I'm going to China for the holidays... Whoopdedo... My cousins are so gay and they play counterstrike, which makes them even gayer. They never heard of Neopets, much less Warcraft or Diablo II, and one of them plays the piano, and they like it! Dude, ever heard of the saxophone or the Brass and Wind family? They really should learn how to play the drums so they can become more sociable. I wonder what kind of music they listen to... does China have they own Jay Chou or are all their singers like that weird old gay guy that sings to the sky about birds in a tree (shu sang de xiao niao...). I gotta introduce them to Jazz, even if they can't understand the lyrics, the rhythm is the best part. I wonder if they'll like Frank Sinatra? So, if I go to China, I've got a mission to complete: make my cousins appear less gay and Jazz-ify them. Seriously, they are like 14 and 12 years old and they still play counterstrike. Too bad they've got the longest school hours in the world (seriously) but that can't be the excuse for everything. Maybe it's just because Chinese movies are all about palace life, police chases and martial arts so they don't know much about the world. This is why I love Singapore so much more. This is also why I don't want to go. Plus I have to speak Chinese. But I can always annoy them by speaking English. Hey, I understand them but they don't understand me... lol. I did that the last time I visited, they were so frustrated I couldn't stop laughing! Oh, and maybe I should bring a chim science book or the classic Emma got me for my birthday just to make my head look bigger and theirs look smaller. Lol. At least I get to eat sugarcane right off the stalk, or stem, or whatever. It's really fun: your supposed to bite it, suck it and chew on it to get the juice out, then spit it out. OMG, THAT WAS SO SICK...INNUENDO...TOTALLY...OH GOD! // Monday, October 15, 2007, 7:31 PM Today began kinda slow. I played Sims for a while and then slept for a while again. My cat caught a bird though, and she nearly killed it if it wasn't for my maid. Then, the fun began. My mom and I, cyn did not want to come (too bad for her!), went to Lot 1 to, you know, kill time. I wanted to get a Converse t-shirt but the colors were crappy. Took a look at the sneakers for a while, but I knew my mom wouldn't buy them for me. Then my mom went into the cosmetics shop (animal rights!), by which I was blasting my iPod in an attempt to distract myself from the countless animal-tested glittery products. Finally, we went to the library and I returned my books and borrowed two Science books about physics. We went to Popular to get some pens, the cheap ones of course (my mom was paying not me so too bad). I took a look at the notebooks because I wanted to get a doodle book, but nothing particularly caught my eye. We went to eat at the hawker centre after changing some money into yen (my father is going to China soon to visit my dying grandfather whom I think has senile dementia). I ate until I was about to burst, though the carrot cake was, I must add, way too oily. I persuaded my mother, with a lot of effort, to get me a Converse jacket, which I had been bugging her to buy since like forever, and guess what, we did! I love my jacket, but I'm turning into a Converse freak. Then, I went to NTUC to by eggs while my mom got a haircut. When I got home and cyn found out about the jacket I didn't persuade mom to get her, she went ballistic. Well, it was her fault she didn't want to come, not mine. We didn't even 'da bao'-ed her any food, which added fuel to the already raging fire. Now, I'm just waiting for 'Taxi' to start. Oh, just when I turned on the computer, my dog caught a bird, after which my cat tried to eat it, but I think beetles and cockroaches are more her type. Hopefully, cyn will stop hogging the other computer (the one that we installed the games, which is also the only one with a damn graphic card!) so I can play Diablo for a while. It's time to go to Hell (it's not what you think, I mean the game, it time to go to Hell in the game... never mind)! // Sunday, October 14, 2007, 5:01 PM Post-Exam activities were so boring! We played Wipe-Out, which was so lame because only 10 out of 30 in each house was allowed to play at one time. My house tied for first at least, so at least some good came out of it. Then we did a whole load of surveys and stuff, you know, to find out what kind of learning style we prefered. Halfway through, Emma and I had to go see the dentist, so we left. The cool thing was that at the end of the corridor with the dentist room was this door with the picture of a ghost pasted on it. It was kinda dark, and Emma didn't want to take a closer look so I did. It look a little creepy, but reminded me of the Warcraft-DoTA guy. While waiting for Ethel to finish, we read the only two magazines in the dental room, which I'm sad to say was 8 Days. I took the 'good' one and left Emma to read the one with half naked Singaporean 'hot' guys in it. Well, at least it's my first time reading an 8 Days magazine and it's always good to try new stuff right? The dentist kept typing stuff on her computer (very slowly by the way) and asked questions and stuff. She asked how many moes I had on my face and then drew it on this face thing on her computer, like WTF? She scratched my teeth and stuff while checking for tooth decay, which I'm proud to say, I have none. The next day was pretty much the same, only we watched Chinese Opera, which is infinitely worst. Then, more and more talks, I swear my ass fell asleep during it. Oh, and Happy Birthday Emma, and thanks for the brownies! I've got a long weekend ahead of me, and then, I'll get my results back. I'm particularily nervous about History and Literature, but all I can do it hope... for the best? // Saturday, October 13, 2007, 1:00 PM All right, I'm back! Did'ya miss me? Exams are over, thank goodness! Math was really easy, so was Science, but I'm not too sure about all my other exams though. Never mind, I'll find out soon anyways, so hold you breath! My mom bought me a bike, well sort of because I'm supposed to pay half the price unless I get top ten for my exams. I was able to last semester, but can I do it again? I'll need at least two 80s though, since that was what I got last time. I can afford it anyways. I think my computer has a virus because the damn pop-ups keep coming at me. Its really frustrating you know. I watched a couple of movies since the last time I posted. Namely, No Reservations (I love this movie, specially Catherine Zeta-Jones), Ratatouille and Evan Almighty. I'm thinking of watching another as an end-of-exams reward. I'm not too keen on spending my money though. ALL RIGHT LET THE CELEBRATION BEGIN! (and by this I mean let's watch TV and play computer games) // Monday, October 8, 2007, 1:21 PM |
